HOW MO VIBE BEGAN
Chris Stockton and Ryan Lair, both respected Military Veterans, have successfully transitioned from service to thriving entrepreneurship and now, alongside Amanda and Samantha, are dedicated to empowering fellow Veterans in doing the same.
Chris, a Marine F‑18 jet mechanic, founded Upstream Towing with Amanda—an “AAA on the water” service, and now also Breakaway Boat Rentals, following a life journey shaped by early fatherhood, diverse career paths, and profound personal growth. Ryan, an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician of 26 years, fulfilled his retirement dream by founding Demolition Brewing Company with wife Samantha, a craft brewery now preparing for distribution.
United by shared experiences and the challenges they overcame, this dynamic team established Missouri Veterans in Business Excellence (MoVIBE), a nonprofit committed to providing vital resources, visibility, and networking opportunities for Veteran‑Owned businesses across the state. Their mission directly addresses the critical need for strong support systems for veterans transitioning into the civilian business world, ensuring they receive the practical assistance so often promised but rarely delivered.
